In the basement, the Unit has an area dedicated to non-human primary cell culture, adjacent to the Animal Facility, and a biosafety level P2 room for cell transduction.
En las restantes plantas, existen siete áreas destinadas a líneas celulares humanas y murinas y un área destinada al cultivo primario humano.
The Cell Culture Unit provides users with the ability to culture all types of animal cells, including both primary cultures and established cell lines, and equipment to facilitate their molecular and cellular studies.
The Culture Area is equipped with robust infrastructure to facilitate and streamline researchers’ work, including all the necessary equipment for cell culture, cell growth measurement, cell transfection, and cryopreservation.
The Cell Culture Unit currently:
- Facilitates users’ access to and utilization of the available facilities, ensuring the setup and maintenance of the infrastructure.
- Ensures compliance with work regulations to prevent culture contamination and promote good laboratory practices.
- Conducts regular inspections of the facilities and equipment.
- Monitors critical parameters in cell culture and manages cleaning, disinfection, and/or sterilization programs for the equipment used.
- Oversees the supply of CO₂ and nitrogen, both liquid and gaseous, throughout the center, and monitors the operation of cell cryopreservation tanks.
- Provides aliquots of heat-inactivated FBS, penicillin/streptomycin, glutamine, trypsin-EDTA, and sterile 1X PBS.
